The Chickasaw Nation will begin construction on a resort next year near the First Americans Museum in Oklahoma City.

The $300 million resort reportedly will feature a hotel, water park and other amenities near the museum.

Oklahoma City Mayor David Holt posted on social media that construction will begin next year on the development known as the OKANA Resort. The resort will feature a 400-room hotel, an indoor/outdoor water park, retail, dining and conference facilities.

The announcement comes nearly a month after the First Americans Museum opened in Oklahoma City.
