A familar face representing the Oklahoma Highway Patrol has died. A statement from the OHP says Captain Rodrick "Pete" Norwood died Saturday from a sudden illness.
Norwood was a former public information officer for the patrol and was frequently seen and heard on TV and radio stations across the state.
At the time of his death, he was serving as the Department of Public Safety's legislative liasion at the state Capitol.
Before becoming a trooper, the OHP says Norwood attended the University of Oklahoma where he played football for the Sooners.
Norwood is survived by his wife, two sons and a step daughter. A memorial service is set for Thursday at 1 p.m. at the Anadarko High School Gymnasium.
Public viewing is today, tomorrow and Wednesday at LynLee Mae Chapel in Moore.
