Celebrating Three Glorious Years of StateImpact Oklahoma

StateImpact Oklahoma

I just completed a final report for the Ethics and Excellence in Journalism Foundation for their support of the third year of StateImpact Oklahoma.

I want to highlight the great year we had with StateImpact Oklahoma.

Last year, StateImpact Oklahoma reporters Joe Wertz and Logan Layden created 47 radio stories, appeared on OETA or other TV outlets 18 times, created 254 regular web posts and 27 multi-media web stories with interactive maps and visualizations.

The StateImpact Oklahoma web page had over 200,000 visits. The twitter feed has nearly 2,000 followers, and the Facebook page has nearly 1200 likes.

Last year, four StateImpact Oklahoma stories made it to NPR for national broadcast.

And this past year, StateImpact Oklahoma was recognized with 12 awards, one on the national level.

Congratulations to the StateImpact Oklahoma staff for their great work, and thank you to the KGOU audience for supporting that work.

From the Manager’s Desk, I’m Karen Holp.

Karen earned her Master (1974) and Bachelor (1972) degrees from the University of Akron in Ohio, and has worked as Program Director at WMRA-FM, James Madison University in Harrisonburg Virginia and WUIS-FM, University of Illinois at Springfield. She moved to Las Cruces, New Mexico in 1979 to become General Manager of KRWG-FM.
