Oklahoma Native American students ranked first in the nation in reading, math and combined achievement in 2024, a result researchers link to aggressive student identification practices and robust Johnson-O'Malley program support. But flat federal funding despite a growing number of eligible students is threatening the programs that helped drive that success.

To run, candidates for district attorney have to have lived in the state for two years, be a registered voter in and reside in the district for six months before filing. Applicants must also have been a licensed attorney for at least five years and be at least 28 years old.
