Muslim Leader Banned From Police Training Seminar

The head of a Muslim advocacy group in Oklahoma says he's been banned from attending a police training seminar Friday at the state Capitol that the group says includes speakers who have in the past engaged in anti-Muslim rhetoric.

The Oklahoma director of the Council on American-Islamic Relations, Adam Soltani, said Thursday that Republican Rep. John Bennettof Sallisaw told him the event was open to "invited members of the public" only.

A House news release earlier this week by House staff indicated the seminar entitled "Iran, Hezbollah and the Drug Cartels: Counterterrorism Considerations" was open to the public.

Bennett says the press release was sent in error and that Soltani was told he couldn't attend because the seminar was full.

Soltani said he plans to try and attend anyway.
