Water Main Break Leaves Anadarko Without Water

Jun 10, 2021

The City of Anadarko was without water Wednesday after a major line break. City officials say the repair could take weeks.

The city brought in a contractor Wednesday to look at the main water line.  After working through the night, the city has managed to temporarily resolve the issue until the correct parts arrive.

City Manager Kenneth Corn says Anadarko’s water infrastructure is old and is now showing its deficiencies.

"We have a very old system. It’s not been very well put together and so we are having to correct a lot of things that probably shouldn’t have been put in place.  The problem that we found--they’re saying the part takes three to four weeks," said Corn.

Wednesday night the city’s water towers were drained as contractors worked on a temporary solution. Corn says residents will likely experience very low water pressure and discoloring of the water until the system can fully recharge. The city is under a precautionary boil order until further notice.
