This past week jazz guitarist Laurindo Almeida died at the ge of 77 years-old. NPR's Tom Cole prepared a tribute to this prolific artist, ho won six Grammy awards throughout his long career. Almeida was the first to ring Brazilian rhythms into American jazz.

Mark Roberts reports from Denver that an infestation of weeds in the Rocky Mountain west is causing farmers there lots of headaches. Weeds are a problem in many places, but there are particular species that are aggressively inhibiting crops.
