Ahead of a death row inmate’s execution date next month, the Oklahoma Pardon and Parole Board voted to recommend clemency.

The 10th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals temporarily grants execution stays for John Grant and Julius Jones. Oklahoma is asking the U.S. Supreme Court for an appeal on the circuit court's ruling to allow Grant a stay.

The first executions in the state since 2015 are scheduled to continue as planned after death row inmates were denied stays of execution.
