The Edmond Iris and Garden Society with hold their Rhizome and Plant Sale on Saturday, September 10th from 9 AM to 1 PM at the Rodkey House on the west side of Stephenson Park at 410 South Littler in Edmond.
This annual sale is a great opportunity to select healthy iris rhizomes from the private collections of the Iris Society’s members from a plethora of colors and in a variety of sizes and types at very reasonable prices. Tall bearded, Intermediate and Dwarf Iris will be available in a rainbow of colors and styles. Back by popular demand, the society will again offer their Rainbow Iris Garden bags of assorted rhizomes. As the Society approaches it's Centennial, this year's sale will also feature historic iris rescued from old homesteads around Edmond. A limited number of potted iris and perennials will also be available for purchase. Come early for the best selection. Admission is free and cash, checks and credit cards are accepted.
Iris are an ideal perennial for central Oklahoma gardens. They require little water and at least six hours of sun for ideal bloom. Iris are drought and deer resistant and varieties bloom from early to late spring. Some reblooming iris will rebloom in the summer and/or fall under ideal conditions! This time of year is an ideal time to plant iris in your garden. Club members will be on hand to help with your selection, answer your gardening questions and share information on iris planting and care.
The Edmond Iris and Garden Society has been blooming in Edmond since 1925. Proceeds from this year's Rhizome and Plant Sale will help fund special Centennial projects planned by the Society.
