Experience the magic of moth night! Join this free, interactive program as guest instructor Zach shares his specialized light panels to attract an array of nocturnal insects for us to observe. Learn fascinating facts about moths, engage in some of the Pop-Up Nature Center activities, and take home a Nature Journal / Activity Booklet to continue more exploration after this program is done!
Please register each person planning to attend. This is an informal program; we will be set up from 8:30pm until about midnight. You may come and go as you please during this timeframe.
We're excited to share this unique opportunity to explore the natural world after dark! Here are a few helpful tips for this program:
- This program will be held at Arcadia Lake; we are meeting at the Comanche Pavilion located near E 15th and N Midwest Blvd. There are several areas to park along the drive up to the pavilion.
- Please bring folding chairs / picnic blankets for you and your group to have a guaranteed place to sit.
- Bring a headlamp or flashlight for each person in your group - it helps if you have a red light option to reduce the odds of attracting bugs to you instead of the light panels.
- Please apply insect repellant in the parking lot. We will be attracting and interacting with bugs in their natural habitat and do not want to harm them, so be sure you are not applying insect repellants in the program space.
- Be sure to dress weather-appropriate, and wear comfortable walking shoes.
- Remember to bring drinking water and snacks.

Do you know a 13–15-year-old who needs to unplug from his or her electronic devices and enjoy an adventure in the forest? At Oklahoma Forestry Youth Camp, kids learn from experts from different parts of the forestry sector to learn about sustainability, conservation, and management of the forests- all while having a ton of fun! We are a sleepaway camp that offers swimming, canoeing, hiking, wood turning, fly fishing, archery, tree climbing and the opportunity to make new friends, all while learning about the environment.
This year, camp happens June 16-21, 2025, at Beavers Bend State Park. Registration is $100 and includes cabin lodging, meals, and programming for the week. Scholarships are available based on need and availability.
* Registration deadline is May 2.
