Fiscal Year Revenue Update

KGOU

This is the Manager’s Minute.

We’re still finalizing the figures, but now can give a preliminary report on our fundraising for the fiscal year that ended in June.

Donations totaled just over $550,000, a decrease of about one-percent from the previous fiscal year.

Money gifts actually went up about two-and-a-half percent, but vehicle donations dropped.

Contributions from individual listeners have been basically flat for the last three years, despite large gains in our audience, so we’re pushing for increased underwriting, or business sponsorships to help make up the difference.

Donations and business sponsorships allowed us to provide ongoing coverage of the recent opioid trial; StateImpact Oklahoma reporter Jackie Fortier was there every day and was a regular contributor to NPR.
We rely on support from listeners, like you, to deliver quality programming you expect. And every dollar matters.

Contributions from members, our community of listeners, is our most steady form of revenue. If you’ve already given this year, thanks! If not, we urge you to donate at www.kgou.org.

Until next time, with the Manager’s Minute, I’m Dick Pryor.

Dick Pryor has more than 30 years of experience in public service media, having previously served as deputy director, managing editor, news manager, news anchor and host for OETA, Oklahoma’s statewide public TV network. He was named general manager of KGOU Radio in November 2016.
