KGOU And StateImpact Oklahoma Garner More Awards

This is the Manager’s Minute.

KGOU and StateImpact Oklahoma are known for award-winning journalism, and we’ve just added more plaques to the trophy wall.

StateImpact Oklahoma has earned a prestigious Regional Edward R. Murrow Award for Continuing Coverage of the Oklahoma opioid trial last year. KGOU and the other StateImpact stations were recognized in the large market radio division of Region 6, which is all stations in Oklahoma and Texas.

KGOU also received two awards in the Oklahoma Association of Broadcasters competition. Jim Johnson’s feature on music legend Herb Alpert won the Outstanding Achievement in Broadcasting Award for feature story in the metro radio division.

And, KGOU earned the award in General News for a story about an Oklahoma case that led to expansion of personal privacy, and the U.S. Supreme Court decision in Roe v. Wade.

Until next time, with the Manager’s Minute, I’m Dick Pryor.

Dick Pryor has more than 30 years of experience in public service media, having previously served as deputy director, managing editor, news manager, news anchor and host for OETA, Oklahoma’s statewide public TV network. He was named general manager of KGOU Radio in November 2016.
