The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says inspectors with the military have determined that explosives carried on a tractor-trailer involved in a two-vehicle crash near Hugo are stable and are not a danger.
OHP Capt. Paul Timmons said the explosives were being taken to the McAlester Army Ammunition Plant in McAlester when the semi and a vehicle collided on U.S. 271 about 12:20 a.m. Wednesday. The driver of the car — 21-year-old Delany Jones of Enid — was hospitalized in stable condition following the crash.
Timmons said the driver of the semi — Renetta Williams of Malvern, Arkansas, — pulled onto the highway northbound from a truck stop and the rear tires of the trailer were struck by the northbound vehicle driven by Jones.
