The Oklahoma Highway Patrol is not allowing anyone in or out of the state Capitol after several suspicious packages were hand-delivered to some lawmakers' offices.
OHP Lt. John Vincent says the decision to lock down the Capitol Wednesday afternoon was a precautionary one in case there were any dangerous contaminants in the packages. Legislators and state workers in several hallways were not allowed to leave their offices for the same reason.
Vincent says authorities are still trying to figure out who delivered the packages and if that person were still in the building.
He says a hazardous-materials team was at the Capitol and testing the suspicious envelopes.
Republican Rep. James Leewright of Bristow says a man delivered an envelope to his office Wednesday afternoon, but he didn't open it.
