Commitment To Public Service Journalism Shines Through

Nov 17, 2020

This is the Manager’s Minute.

Now that the general election is behind us, the KGOU and StateImpact Oklahoma team is re-grouping and focusing on the rest of the year. We just came through a remarkable period – with extensive election reporting, and coverage of the coronavirus and historic ice storm. Our team pulled together under difficult conditions.

All nine of our transmission sites lost power for a while. We had to spend hundreds of extra dollars to stay on the air and deliver as much news and information as we could. Half of our staff lost power and heat for several days, including five of our six reporters. They kept working while putting their own needs aside, rationing power and staying safe.

But, that’s the kind of dedicated “service-first” team we have at KGOU. Like you, we’ve had to prioritize and adjust during this difficult time.

So, this is a big thank you to our team and to those of you who count on us, and support us, through thick and thin. Because you’re the reason we do this, and you’re the engine that powers our commitment to public service.

With the Manager’s Minute, I’m Dick Pryor.
