Former University of Oklahoma President David Boren and former OU administrator Tripp Hall will not face indictments over sexual misconduct allegations.
The acting attorney general in the investigation Patrick Ryan announced in a press release Tuesday that the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation has concluded its investigation of Boren and Hall, which began in March 2019.
“As the appointed acting AG for this investigation, I have made the decision, after considering all relevant facts and circumstances, to not seek a Grand Jury criminal indictment relative to Boren’s and Hall’s alleged wrongful conduct while they were employed by the University of Oklahoma,” Ryan said in the press release. “I want to personally thank the OSBI for their extraordinary efforts and for conducting a thorough investigation.”
Boren was publicly accused of sexual misconduct by former OU employee and student Jess Eddy.
The law firm Jones Day was hired by OU to conduct a separate investigation into the allegations. Jones Day presented its findings to the OU Board of Regents in April 2019, and an excerpt of the report was released by Eddy in May 2019. In the excerpt, Eddy was called “generally credible.”
Boren is a former Oklahoma governor and U.S. senator who served as OU president from 1994 to 2018. He cut his remaining ties with the university in June 2019.
Three men have publicly accused Hall, who was vice president for university development, of sexual misconduct.
Boren and Hall have denied wrongdoing.
