Oklahoma needs moisture. Drought conditions across the state are worsening.
The latest U.S. Drought Monitor indicates Oklahoma's drought conditions have further deteriorated. Currently, nearly 93% of the state is experiencing abnormally dry conditions or worse.
Between Nov. 30 and Dec. 7, severe drought jumped from about 16% to nearly 29% in the state mainly across far western Oklahoma. Just about all of Cimarron County is classified as in extreme drought.
According to the Oklahoma Mesonet, several western counties haven't received any rainfall in the last 30 days.
No immediate relief appears to be in sight either. The extended forecast from the National Weather Service shows little to no precipitation over the coming week.
