The University of Central Oklahoma will host 70 of the top high school students worldwide July 7-12, 2024, for the summer leadership program Four Star Leadership with General Tommy Franks. This will mark UCO’s first time hosting the program.
The students selected to participate in the program will be housed on the UCO campus in Edmond, Oklahoma, where they will meet and engage with national and international leaders including elected officials, dignitaries and Olympic-level athletes, as well as travel to several halls of leadership during the week.
Program curriculum is built around Franks' four core leadership principles: character, common vision, communication and caring.
Students will be confronted with practical leadership and ethical scenarios and then challenged to address them individually in a persuasive speech and writing competition, as well as collaboratively in an ethics bowl competition.
The program is offered at no cost to selected students, all expenses including travel and housing are included.
Applications and nominations for Four Star Leadership 2024 are being accepted now through April 5. The program is open to high school freshmen, sophomores and juniors.
School advisors, coaches, scouting leaders and directors of youth programs are encouraged to nominate young leaders in their organization. For more information on the program, to nominate a student or to apply, visit FourStarLeader.com.
The multi-sensory experience combines glass, video, and audio to tell the story of Raven, a creator figure in Northwest Coast Native American culture, who was the giver of the stars, moon, and sun.
Raven takes visitors on a transformative journey through darkness into light. In addition to Singletary’s striking glass pieces, the exhibition features storytelling paired with original music, coastal Pacific Northwest soundscapes, and video.
Multiple Voices is the first public artwork in the United States by Eva Schlegel, the Austria-based artist known for engineering steel and mirrors into spectacular, architectonic sculptures. Working with materials similar to the arts center’s new building,
Schlegel created a series of polished and translucent surfaces that catch and reflect light and parts of the surrounding environment, encouraging visitors to gather, play and learn.
Poems by Steve Bellin-Oka, Kimberly Blaeser and Joy Harjo appear in blurred form on glass panels, registering each poem as part of the sculpture, but rendered cryptic to the viewer.

Throughout the Mentorship Program, students engage in peer critiques and discussions with esteemed artist mentors, enriching their understanding of artistic processes. We are immensely grateful to our sponsors for enabling us to offer this program free of charge to participating students and schools.
The opening reception for this year's exhibition will take place on March 7 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm, with an award ceremony from 6:00-6:30. We invite you to immerse yourself in the creativity of our talented students, accompanied by light hors d'oeuvres.
