Learn the building blocks of precision and patience in this hard-edge painting workshop led by Oklahoma artist Jason Wilson. Participants will explore how to plot, draw, and paint sharp edges and clearly defined shapes, then apply those techniques to create their own precise geometric composition inspired by the works of Frederick Hammersley.

The Edmond Quilt Guild, a non-profit organization of over 100 members, is hosting its bi-annual quilt show July 31-August 1, 2026, at the Gaylord University Center, Oklahoma Christian University, 2501 E Memorial, Edmond, OK, 9:00am-4:00 pm each day, $12.00 admission per day, free parking. Celebrating our nation's 250th anniversary with the theme, "Quilting -- An American Legacy" the event is open to the public. The Red Earth Festival features Native American artists and dancers from throughout North America sharing the richness and diversity of their heritage with the world.
This exciting celebration features representatives from many different tribes. Over the years, Red Earth has matured into one of the most respected visual and performing arts events of its type, setting the standard for many of today's Native art shows. See works by some of the nation's most celebrated Native artists, including contemporary and traditional examples of beadwork, basketry, jewelry, pottery, sculpture, paintings, graphics and cultural attire during the festival's juried art show and market.
The Red Earth Festival also features a series of dance showcases, a unique gathering that brings together dancers from America's native tribes. Witness the artistry and heritage of Native American dance as performers in distinctive tribal attire share their traditions through dance. These showcases focus on celebrating the diversity and unity of Native cultures, offering attendees an immersive and educational experience into the rich tapestry of tribal dance expressions. For this event, the artists set up booths featuring examples of woodcarving and other wood art.
Wood carving and burning demonstrations will be carried out on Saturday.
We expect good participation in the Whittling Contest.
The public will be able to see the different styles to gain an appreciation for this type of art, which is disappearing from the American scene.
Instruction will be provided in soap carving classes for children - a medium chosen to reduce the danger since wooden knives were used along with bars of soap

Join us Sunday, October 19 from 6 to 9pm for Uncanny Art Hang, returning in the setting of In the Company of Paintings.
This relaxed coworking night is open to artists and creatives of all levels. Bring your own supplies, or use some of the basics we provide, and spend the evening making, brainstorming, or simply soaking in the exhibition’s atmospheric environment. Whether starting something new, finishing a piece, or just needing space to recharge, this night is about sharing inspiration and connecting with fellow creatives.
What to Expect:
6:00 PM – Doors Open: Get settled, grab a drink, and meet other creators.
6:30 PM – Open Coworking: Work on your projects, give and receive feedback, or just enjoy the creative energy.
9:00 PM – Wrap-Up: Share final thoughts and new connections.
