Summer Reading is here, and we are ready to "Unearth a Story!" Join Southern Oaks Library at our annual community celebration for all ages! Hands-on crafts, interactive games, and prizes, featuring your favorite dinosaurs, rocks, and artifacts.

Get creative this summer at Studio School! With four- and eight-week classes or single workshops—including traditional favorites and a variety of new subjects—options abound to hone existing artistic skills, create new ones or just have fun in the studio. Topics include 2-D and 3-D media, ceramics, fiber arts, leatherworking, jewelry making, and more. No experience required! One of the biggest shopping events of the year, Braum’s Affair of the Heart returns June 12-14 to OKC Fair Park, now in the spacious Bennett Event Center. With more than 250 vendors to shop from, guests can find everything from home goods and seasonal décor to unique crafts, tasty treats and boutique clothing. Local retailers, artists, crafters and homemade vendors will help reignite the joy of shopping small throughout this three-day event.

Enjoy an afternoon of art-making with us! Dream up unique creations in the mystery art lab, join a Family Gallery Chat, and explore an Art Pack full of engaging activities for all ages. All Second Saturday activities are free and open to the public.

Every family has a story. Let’s unearth yours!

This FREE one-day camp for 6th through 8th graders is full of fun learning activities that teach kids how to discover their family history! We will start our learning at the Edmond Library where kids will learn how to use our many resources to locate family history. After lunch, we will walk to the Edmond Schoolhouse, Stephenson Park, and the Edmond History Museum for more fun activities, including learning how to make a family tree and have fun with yearbooks. We will walk back to the Edmond Library and conclude our day with wrap up activities, and a photo booth, where families can take pictures together! Kids will need to bring their own lunch, and we will provide snacks throughout the day. Once you are registered, you will receive an email with more details! Register at metrolibrary.org

Wood carving and burning demonstrations will be carried out on Saturday.

We expect good participation in the Whittling Contest.

The public will be able to see the different styles to gain an appreciation for this type of art, which is disappearing from the American scene.

Instruction will be provided in soap carving classes for children - a medium chosen to reduce the danger since wooden knives were used along with bars of soap

Join us Sunday, October 19 from 6 to 9pm for Uncanny Art Hang, returning in the setting of In the Company of Paintings.

This relaxed coworking night is open to artists and creatives of all levels. Bring your own supplies, or use some of the basics we provide, and spend the evening making, brainstorming, or simply soaking in the exhibition’s atmospheric environment. Whether starting something new, finishing a piece, or just needing space to recharge, this night is about sharing inspiration and connecting with fellow creatives.

What to Expect:

6:00 PM – Doors Open: Get settled, grab a drink, and meet other creators.

6:30 PM – Open Coworking: Work on your projects, give and receive feedback, or just enjoy the creative energy.

9:00 PM – Wrap-Up: Share final thoughts and new connections.

Free and open to the public.
