Norman Police Release Information On Sunday Shooting

Norman Police Department

Police in Norman have identified the officer involved in a weekend shooting that left a man in critical condition.

Capt. Tom Easley said Tuesday Master Police Officer Heather Glazier was involved in a shooting on Sunday that injured 34-year-old Martin Sanchez-Juarez. Glazier has served with the department since May 2008. She is on paid administrative assignment pending an investigation.

Police say a family member called authorities and indicated Sanchez-Juarez was out of control and "breaking stuff." Sanchez-Juarez refused to comply with commands to drop a hammer he was carrying.

Police say the officer fired after the man moved toward her and knocked the passenger's side mirror off her police car with the hammer. Sanchez-Juarez was shot three times and remains in critical condition at the University of Oklahoma Medical Center.
