Gaylord College Students Gain Experience At KGOU

KGOU
Ryan Gaylor

This is the Manager’s Minute.

Each semester, KGOU provides University of Oklahoma students the opportunity to learn skills in radio news, operations and public relations. Class size is limited so students can receive one on one attention from our professional staff – Jim Johnson, Jolly Brown, Laura Knoll and Logan Layden.

The semester has come to an end for the Gaylord College students in this fall’s Practicum class: Sydney Langley, Brady Bell, Linnea Anderson and Jenna Rowell. Another Gaylord College student, Ryan Gaylor, joined KGOU as a part-time employee and will continue with us into 2021.

Like most of our team, students have worked from remote locations due to coronavirus safety protocols. It’s a challenge, but we believe in learning by doing and KGOU’s students get to see the methods and responsibilities involved in work at a professional public service radio station.

With the Manager’s Minute, I’m Dick Pryor.

Dick Pryor has more than 30 years of experience in public service media, having previously served as deputy director, managing editor, news manager, news anchor and host for OETA, Oklahoma’s statewide public TV network. He was named general manager of KGOU Radio in November 2016.
