OU Students Learn, Contribute At KGOU

This is the Manager’s Minute.

Each semester, KGOU offers University of Oklahoma students opportunities to learn about news reporting, station operations and audio production, administration and development, and preparation of community calendar announcements.

KGOU’s professional staff guides these students as they gain hands-on experience in Practicum and Independent Study classes. This semester, we have five students from the Gaylord College of Journalism and Mass Communication at KGOU.

Lacee Barnell is focused on community calendar announcements and Ross DeFehr is producing videos for our fundraising and marketing efforts.

Three Gaylord College students are part-time employees this semester. You may have heard them on the air: Nyk Daniels, Drew Hutchinson and Taitum Wilson. They ‘re producing on-air announcements, community calendar items, hosting during news blocs and reporting news stories for KGOU.

Until next time, with the Manager’s Minute, I’m Dick Pryor.

Dick Pryor has more than 30 years of experience in public service media, having previously served as deputy director, managing editor, news manager, news anchor and host for OETA, Oklahoma’s statewide public TV network. He was named general manager of KGOU Radio in November 2016.
